Radio UNI (formerly KULT)

During my last year at UNI, I had the pleasure of joining our campus radio station. I became a DJ in the fall of 2024 when the radio station was still KULT. During the semester transition, I joined the leadership team as Program Director and helped to bring in a new era of radio at the University of Northern Iowa.

I started The Rave Room as a place to share all of my favorite EDM tracks. I began to learn all about hosting a radio show, on-air presence, and live audio routing. In addition to curating playlists, I also produced a show intro and between song stingers to boost the production value of my show.

Rave Room Intro

Rave Room – October 28, 2024

As Program Director, I was tasked with maintaining the schedule of programming for Radio UNI via radio.co. In addition to that, I also worked closely with the entire leadership team to fulfill any necessary tasks in order to achieve our goals.

My tasks included:

Weekly updating and maintenance of schedule, adjusting for absences
Importing show metadata (Title, Host, Logo) into individual playlists on radio.co
Editing, uploading, and scheduling pre-recorded podcasts to radio.co
Editing the website to include “Shows” and “Meet the DJs” Pages
Providing DJs with recordings of their shows
Decorating the studio
Attending org fairs to recruit new members
Planning and hosting Radio UNI night at Octopus (a local bar and music venue)

I continued to host The Rave Room as well, upgrading from simple playlist based shows by learning how to DJ and mix songs together live. New intros and stingers were also introduced. Take a listen:
